In the Blogspot today, Google announced that users can now let users use background on its minimalist search page. Google search page have been known for its traditional white background. The user has the option to upload their personal photos from their computer or from Google's Picasa Photo album.
It was a good thing though. But, why put user defined background in it. I mean it was better when it is all white and change the Google Icon from time to time. You know, that always thing that Google have done and reflects the season or any special occasion on that particular date.
Users may activate the customized feature by clicking the link located on the lower left corner of the search page. If you can't find it, maybe it's not available in your location as of the moment. According to Google, it will not affect the loading speed of the page and any activities you'll be having on that page.
Why Include the User defined Search Page Background?
When I come to think of it, did Mozilla Firefox contributed that much to the browser players? I just hope Google will not turn into like a "Google Persona". Google is already the best search engine there is. I love the way it is now and it always have been. Although, this feature is only available to US users, for now, take a month of maybe a week then it is for the world to avail.
I guess, Google had enough already with the white theme and got out in the minimalistic point of view. Is Google doing this for the competition? I hope not, because, if Bing have done like this scheme I don't like it. It's very distracting to have a photo of something or someone on my Google Search page. I go to Google to search something not spend time staring at it. So, what's the use customizing it?
What do you think?
